Sex and the Simpsons

There’s a moment in an episode of the Simpsons where Marge is going to allow the kids more freedom, and in a list of requests shouted out, Bart asks if they can “Sleep in our bathing suits.” Simple request, kinda funny, but I remember, as a kid, that I used to love sleeping in my bathing suit. Spend a day at the Beach or playing in the sprinklers in the yard and be lucky enough to dry off in the suit. Wear the suit for the rest of the day as shorts and then get to sleep in them. OK, the suit wasn’t a Speedo, but I mostly remember wearing these very nice suits that were Nylon shorts with white piping downs the side. Almost all lifeguards in my area seemed to wear these suits in red, but mine was green. Inside was a stretchy, white, brief liner just like a Speedo. They felt really good. I wonder what the Simpson writer that wrote that line is like. I wonder if he meant the line as a joke, or if he visits sights like this? Hmmm, all I know is that when I got to my teens, for me, it became Harder, and Harder to simply fall asleep in a swimsuit. And I still enjoy sleeping in them.
