Worn Out Suits

I don’t know about you guys, but I have a really hard time throwing out a Speedo that has served me loyally through the years. As you may know, the Nylon/Spandex blend Speedos tend to wear out over time. The Spandex portion of the fabric weave almost seems to dissolve away, leaving only the Nylon behind. You are left with a very thin, almost sheer suit. Sounds nice, but it is now about five sizes bigger than it was. It is far from flattering. I actually wore one Speedo for so long that the elastic in the waistband seems to have melted, coating the edges with a white goop. (The white goop is from the suit, trust me.) And still, I just can’t bear to throw it out. Now we don’t just throw out a person after they have retired, so I have all of my retired Speedos in a small box under the bed. I visit them every now and then and remember all the laps I swam, and the good times I had in them.

Reading this, I wonder if I am a bit crazy. ;-)
