Danger! Danger!
Speedos are more common in other countries than in the USA. Maybe American men are more modest or ashamed of their bodies, but whatever the reason here’s something to consider – why aren’t Speedos the normal kind of suit around the world. I mean, how much fabric do you really need to go swimming. The less fabric the better. It dries faster, it packs more easily in a suitcase, easier to clean, should be cheaper. The more confident a women is about here looks the smaller the suit that woman chooses to wear. Why aren’t men the same?
Perhaps it is the ‘arousal factor.’ If someone attractive walks by a man who happens to be wearing a Speedo, that man is going to have a HARD time hiding his attraction. Could it be fear that keeps otherwise confident and UPSTANDING men from SPORTING a Speedo? Perhaps the thought of wearing such a revealing suit makes the average man TENSE. Whatever the reason, the Speedo has gotten a bad rap. The prejudice against Speedos seems UN-BENDING. All Speedo wearers must unite so that our numbers can INCREASE IN SIZE. We will be the pioneers that make this little suit become something much LARGER – a symbol of SWELLING freedom to express GROWING acceptance of all people and things. And who know, perhaps one day, they will ERECT a statue in our honor.

I think you'll find that the world including parts of Europe, South America, Asia, etc are not as speedo "friendly" as you might be given to suspect. I travel a lot and find that more often than not speedos are in the minority.
Also, currently the trend where speedos are more prevalent is toward the board short look. I was just in Spain and Brazil within the last few months and certainly among young guys this is definately the case - WP
